Academics at MVCA
Mountain View Christian Academy provides quality education from a Christian perspective. Teaching is based
on the absolute truths revealed in the Bible and the application of those truths is emphasized in every area of
study. Standards are set to raise students to academic excellence. In addition, key principles of Christian
character are taught in an effort to train students to wholeheartedly rise to the standard of Christian conduct
in obedience, respect, and self-discipline. Thus, the Bible and Christian training are not “extras” but integral
parts of every area of study, emphasizing a direct relationship to the Sovereign God.
Mountain View Christian Academy believes strongly in the integration of biblical truths with academic objectives. To accomplish this integration, Mountain View has developed a philosophy of biblical integration for each core subject. In addition, the school uses a variety of textbooks to meet our curricular needs. These textbooks are primarily published by Bob Jones University Press, ABeka, and ACSI (Purposeful Design). All of our curriculum guides and textbooks are available to view upon request.

philosophy for teaching bible
God is awesome and He has left us the responsibility to “diligently teach your sons…” so “that from childhood they have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” This is the reason why we are so happy to labor in teaching the divine truths
found in God’s word. We believe that “All Scripture iS inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” We want to have the privilege to be a part of training children for a lifetime of Christian service. We have the great honor of teaching about Him, because… “All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness.” We also have the awesome task of teaching the Word because, “in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God…and the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” The Bible is very clear about the demand placed on teachers… “Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we shall incur a stricter judgment.” This is why you can rest assured that everyone who is responsible for teaching the scriptures at Mountain View Christian Academy will be diligently searching for the truth. Holding the Bible as the ultimate standard by which we shall be judged, we are careful to keep the commands found in its pages. So in keeping with the commands of Jesus we are seeking to “make disciples of all the nations…” No one will be excluded from hearing the truth at Mountain View Christian Academy. Our desire is for all to come to peace, “For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one, and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity.”

philosophy for teaching language arts and foreign language
God has chosen words as a means of revealing Himself to mankind. With the living Word, He spoke the world into existence. He communicated through the spoken Word to the Old Testament prophets. He revealed Himself to the world through the living Word that was made flesh and dwelt among us in the person of Jesus Christ. Man’s eternal existence is dependent upon every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matt. 3:4) that we find in the written Word of God. God understands all words and language because He is the source of all language (Gen. 11). He presented us all the gift of communication and so allows us to think, hear, read, write, and speak. Language is a special gift that makes human beings uniquely created in the image of God. The sufficiency of language to communicate eternal truth is distinctive and essential to the Christian. God
felt His law was so important that God commanded the Jews under the old covenant to write His laws on their doorframes (Deut. 6:9) and the tablets of their hearts (Prov. 7:3). Because of Christ’s commission to go into all the world and preach the gospel, Mountain View Christian Academy has accepted the challenge to equip young people to communicate God’s Word to people with differing language backgrounds, whether they live in a foreign land or in our own neighborhoods.

Philosophy for Teaching Mathematics
Our God is a God of order. Within His creation we find perfect harmony. Through His Word we see the divine use of numbers, the absolute value of standard and the awesome display of order in the symmetry and balance of life. The infinity of numbers will enable students to grasp the concept of eternal life. Through the instructional avenue of mathematics, students must comprehend the eternal value of numbering our days that we might gain a heart of wisdom. (Ps. 90:12)
Philosophy for Teaching Science
Science is the study of God’s revealed character and truths through His creation. Through the study of science, the student will appreciate and understand the wonder of God’s creation and design. Through this process, the student will know His Creator more fully and be able to communicate that knowledge to the world. The Bible is the greatest science book ever written. Time after time, the discoveries of science have been inspired by the study of the Bible, and all scientific discoveries have upheld the credibility of God’s word. We are challenged to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind. Science equips individuals with an intellectual faith based on reason and revealed truths. A firm grasp of scientific truths enables students to give a clear defense of their faith. The concrete evidence of a Creator God leaves men without excuse for recognizing God’s eternal power (Rom. 1:20).
Philosophy for Teaching Social STudies
The study of history focuses on the role of God in man’s life from the beginning of time. The acceptance or denial of God’s providence and authority has shaped cultures and governments throughout the civilization of mankind. Students will be taught to develop a loyalty to both God and country through an understanding of how our Christian and American heritage has formed our great nation. Students will be challenged with a personal decision to accept or reject God’s authority as supreme, manifested through the most reliable source of human history and knowledge, the Bible.
Philosophy for teaching MEdia and Technology
Philosophy for Teaching Media and Technology
“So I turned my mind to understand, to investigate and to search out wisdom and the scheme of things and to understand the stupidity of wickedness and the madness of folly.” – Ecclesiastes 7:25 The goal of the media center is to instruct the students in the use of resources and technology. The students will gather and disseminate knowledge, using the Word of God as a filter to “discern whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy.” (Phil. 4:8) The student will investigate, and with wisdom, judge, the validity of information in the light of God’s Word. “All this I tested by wisdom and I said, ‘I am determined to be wise’ – but this was beyond me.” Ecclesiastes 7:23

Philsophy for Teaching Physical Education and Health
Health is the study of the human body, created in God’s image to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. Physical Education is the practical application of using the body to glorify God’s name and to edify the body of Christ. It is essential that our bodies reflect Christ-like attitudes and work harmoniously with the body of Christ at large. Students will be taught Biblical principles relating to the appropriate behavior, conduct and lifestyle a Christian should exemplify physically, spiritually, mentally and psychologically. The application of this learning will result in a healthy and righteous relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Also, students will be challenged daily to “work out their salvation with fear and trembling” by accepting their personal responsibility to love God with all their heart, mind, soul, strength, and body. Because we are fearfully and wonderfully made and have the awesome privilege to house the Holy Spirit, students will be encouraged to understand that their bodies are not their own, but were bought with a price and purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ. Therefore, the student will grow in the “grace and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ” regarding the appropriate and proper ways a Christian should conduct their lives, in order to be an effective servant in the body of Christ.
Philosophy for teaching fine arts
God is a God to be worshipped. He has given each of His children the ability to express love and gratitude by means of the fine arts, which includes art, music, and drama. Each student has been endowed with God-given talents. Mountain View Christian Academy is committed to assisting and encouraging all students to identify, develop, and incorporate these skills into their daily worship and evangelistic sharing of the God of all creativity.
