BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL
     Early Birds
  1. Early birds is for students arriving between 6:00 and 8:30 a.m.
  2. Secondary students will be dropped off at the Main Campus until 7:55 a.m.
  3. Students must stay in areas designated by the supervising teacher – generally the gym.
  4. All secondary students will go to the NW Campus at 7:55 a.m., go to their lockers, then to their designated classrooms.
     Morning Drop Off
  1. Elementary Students are to be dropped off in front of the main building. They will then go to the gym until released to classrooms.
  2. Secondary students who do not drive may be dropped off at the top of the hill near the NW campus starting at 7:55 am.
  3. Students who drive will park in the designated parking area and walk to the NW Campus.
  4. Students will walk down on the walkway to gather necessary materials from lockers.
  5. Elementary students can hang their bookbags on the designated hooks in the hallways.
  6. Secondary students are to store everything in their lockers or in their designated desk in their designated classroom. All bookbags, sports’ equipment, and anything that does not fit in the lockers will be checked in to Mrs. Keiter or the office to be stored in designated areas, as determined.
  7. Secondary students are to go directly to their classroom as soon as all materials are put away and be prepared for class to begin at 8:15 a.m.   
Parent Pick Up
  1. Elementary students will be dismissed from their classrooms. They should be prepared with bookbags packed by 3:20 p.m.
  2. Secondary classes will be dismissed to lockers after 3:20 announcements to get needed materials for homework.
  3. After 3:20 p.m. announcements, secondary students will be dismissed to walk up the hill for parent pick up.
  4. We will begin calling names for parent pick up at 3:25 p.m.
  5. 5th – 12th grade students will enter the main campus by using the door nearest the cafeteria and report to the gymnasium and sit in designated area until name is called.
  6. When name is called, elementary students will walk down the elementary hallway and exit through the double doors beside room 23, then walk down the sidewalk to the supervising teachers who are directing traffic. Secondary students will exit out the back door of the gymnasium, walk down the sidewalk, and enter their car.
  7. Students will follow instructions for safely entering parent’s car.
  8. If parents or designated individuals desire to come in to pick up students, they must follow the procedures for entering the building and wait in the front reception area until child is called.

   Hangtime
  1. After dismissed from class, report directly to supervising teacher and sign in. Hang time will be in the NW Campus for all ages, but in 2 separate groups by age.

DAILY HEALTH OBSERVATIONS

   Staff
  1. All staff members will have their temperatures checked and recorded daily.
  2. Staff members will answer screening questions from staff daily health observations form.
    
TRANSITION TIMES
     Northwest Campus/Lockers
  1. Doors to Northwest campus must be closed and locked throughout the day.
  2. Enter through the front door.
  3. Get an adult to open the door for anyone you do not know to be a student or faculty member of MVCA.
  4. Walk on the right side of the hallway in whichever direction you are going.
  5. Talk with an inside voice; be especially mindful if classes or testing are in progress.
  6. Each 7th-12th grade student is assigned one locker to be used by himself/herself exclusively.
  7. Students may be paired up and assigned a second locker to be shared.
  8. Access your own personal locker(s) only.
  9. All books and personal belongings are to be inside the lockers, nothing is to go on top of the lockers.
  10. Coats are to be hung on one of the hooks.
  11. Food and drinks must be unopened if kept in lockers.
  12. Acknowledge, show respect, and respond verbally and by your actions to instructions given by any faculty or staff member.
    Walkway to and from Main Campus
  1. Walk in the designated walking lanes.
  2. Yield to elementary students who may be on the walkway. Maintain physical distancing.
  3. Act and speak in a responsible and respectful manner, being mindful of your own and others’ safety.
    Main Campus
  1. Enter through the front doors by the school office unless coming for parent pickup.
  2. Talk quietly being mindful that elementary classes are in session. The office area is a QUIET ZONE.
  3. Walk on the right side of the hallway in whichever direction you are going.
  4. Should you encounter elementary classes in the hallway, please stop and wait against the right wall until they pass by or arrive at their destination.
  5. Acknowledge, show respect, and respond verbally and by your actions to instructions given by any faculty or staff member.
 
LUNCH
     General Lunch
  1. Classes will eat in the gymnasium or in designated outdoor area.
  2. Students eating peanut butter will eat at the brown table to protect anyone with peanut allergies.
  3. Students who pack their lunches will take a seat at their designated table.
  4. Students purchasing lunch will form a line against the gym wall that is behind the front hallway, maintaining physical distancing and wait their turn to get their food and drink.
  5. Food will be served through the window in the gym.
  6. Meals purchased from the school will be prepared and pre-plated in individual disposable containers.
  7. Microwaves will be located on the counter in the main hallway. When using microwaves, please observe physical distancing as you wait your turn.
  8. Bring only food that needs reheated, not cooked, and monitor food for proper cooking times. It should take less than 2 minutes per individual.
  9. Students are responsible for cleaning up after themselves and throwing away all trash.
  10. A teacher only salad bar will be set up on the counter of the hall window. 
     Junior/Senior Lunch Privileges
  1. The last Friday of every month is designated for juniors and seniors to go off campus for lunch.
  2. A note must be on file in the office from parents granting permission for their child to leave the campus.
  3. Written permission from a parent for a student to transport or be transported by another student must be on file in the office. Students will not be permitted to transport more than one other student.
  4. Students must sign out and back in at their designated classroom upon leaving and returning.
  5. The students must return back to school on time for any schedule class, chapel, or special assembly.
  6. Students are not to bring any food back for any student remaining on campus.
 
BATHROOMS/LOCKER ROOMS
     Bathroom Breaks
  1. Each elementary grade will take at least 3 break times per day. Students are encouraged to use this time to go to the bathroom to limit unnecessary traffic in the hallways.
  2. Student are to stand in line at appropriate social distancing and return to designated classroom when finished.
     Bathroom Use in the Northwest Campus
  1. Girls may use either of the bathrooms in the back hall by the water fountains.
  2. Boys are to use the bathrooms in the main hallway.
  3. Students are responsible for helping to keep the restrooms clean by taking care of any messes they make.
  4. Girls are to properly wrap sanitary items and dispose of them in the provided trashcans beside the toilets.
  5. Notify a teacher if bathroom needs supplies or attention.
     Locker Rooms/Bathroom Use in Main Campus
  1. The locker rooms/bathrooms in the main campus are shared with elementary students.
  2. Secondary students are to be mindful that elementary students will overhear their conversations and look to them as role models; thus as in all circumstances, secondary students are to speak and act in an appropriate manner. However, in this situation, please be aware of discussing only elementary age appropriate topics.
  3. Students are responsible for helping to keep the restrooms clean by taking care of any messes they make.
  4. Girls are to properly wrap sanitary items and dispose of them in the provided trashcans beside the toilets.
  5. Notify a teacher if bathroom needs supplies or attention.
DRIVING
  1. Observe a speed limit of 15 mph everywhere on campus.
  2. Obtain a parking pass from the office to park in designated student parking spaces.
    1. No parking in spots against the grass.
  3. Keep music to an appropriate and courteous level.
  4. Upon arrival on campus, report to class promptly.
  5. Request written permission from a faculty or staff member to go to car during the day, if needed.
  6. Upon dismissal from school, exit the parking lot promptly to maintain a safe environment.
  7. Permission to leave campus at any time other than during pre-scheduled dismissal time frames requires a note from a parent and students must sign out in the office or designated classroom.
  8. Written permission from a parent for a student to transport or be transported by another student must be on file in the office.
  9. If a school bus is on property with its lights flashing, drivers must stop and wait until the lights are no longer flashing.
 
CELL PHONES
     K- 8th grade students
  1. Electronic devices of all types are to be turned off and put away throughout the school day unless designated for a teacher directed learning activity.
     9th-12th grade students
  1. Electronic devices may be used during breaks, between classes, at lunch, and during parent pick up.
  2. Music devices/headphones/earbuds are to be put away during the school day, except for online classes and as designated by a student ISP.
  3. Electronic devices are to be turned off or silenced during all classes and turned in at the teachers’ “check in” stations unless being used for a teacher directed learning activity.
 
CHAPEL/SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES
  1. Chapel will be from 12:50-1:50 p.m. on Fridays.
  2. The last scheduled Friday of the month will be K-12 Chapel.
  3. The first scheduled Friday of the month will be K-6 Elementary Chapel. 7-12 Secondary students will have D (Discipleship) groups in classrooms on these days
  4. The other Fridays of the month will be 7-12 Secondary Chapel or Special Chapel programs.
  5. Cell phones are to be put away in personal bookbag or handbag.
  6. When entering and exiting the auditorium, all students and teachers will enter through the doors under the carport. A teacher or designated student leader will hold the doors open for entry and students will go directly into the auditorium.
  7. Students are not to ring the doorbell to get in.
  8. Training His Tots daycare is a QUIET ZONE. The children may be napping.
  9. Sit in designated area and assigned seat and maintain appropriate social distancing.
  10. Sit upright in your seat and give the speaker your respectful attention and participation.
  11. Go to the bathroom before or after chapel or special assembly. The school constituency is not to use the bathrooms on the daycare/church side. Students will need to be escorted to the school side by an adult if the bathroom situation is urgent.
 
OFFICE PROCEDURES
    Students and Teachers
  1. As a mitigation strategy, we will limit the flow of traffic in the hallways and the office.
  2. The office door will remain closed and anyone needing something from the office will come to the window and ask.
  3. Students coming to the office are to come to the window to ask for help.
  4. Teachers are to contact the office before printing to ensure another job is not in progress.
  5. If papers need copied, please allow adequate time for the office personnel to make the copies for you.
  6. Should a child be sick in the classroom, call the office and someone will come down to get the child and escort the child to the office.
    Parents and Visitors Entering the Building
  1. Upon entering the building, all guests are asked to use the hand sanitizing stations provided.
  2.  Anyone who enters the building may have his or her temperature checked.
  3. Anyone entering the building will present an ID for scanning through the Raptor security system.
  4. All parents and visitors are to wait in the front reception area and are not permitted to go to the classrooms and lunchrooms unless cleared by administration.
    Check in/out Through the Day
  1. Parents are to come in to the office and sign their child in and out on an Ipad designated for that purpose.
  2. Students who drive are to sign in and out in Mrs. Harbin’s room on an Ipad designated for that purpose.
 
COMMUNICATION
    Use of Microsoft Teams for Communication, Classes, and Assignments
  1. All students and staff will be assigned an MVCA email account. Kindergartners and 1st graders accounts will be firstname@ccmv.com and 2nd grade and up will be firstname.lastname@ccmv.com.
  2. In addition to RenWeb, Teams will be a communication platform between teachers and students and/or parents. We ask that ALL students share their Teams account information with their parents.
  3. Announcements, assignments, files, and general information will be able to be shared via this platform.
 
TAKE A BREAK CARDS
  1. In order to help students self-regulate their own behavior and emotions, there are “take a break” cards located in each classroom by the door.
  2. Should a student feel that he or she is struggling emotionally or behaviorally, he or she may take a “take a break” card and leave the room to regroup. Taking the card is a signal to the teacher so the student does not have to interrupt class.
  3. If a teacher feels that a student is struggling emotionally or behaviorally, the teacher may give the student a “take a break” card.
  4. The student may go into a restroom, sit at the table in the hallway, or walk in the hallway to calm down unless the teacher directs them elsewhere.
  5. The student should check back in with the teacher within 5 minutes. If able, the student should return to class. If more time is needed, arrangements can be made with the teacher.
  6. Should a student misuse this privilege, it will be evaluated on a per student basis.
  7. Early Elementary teachers will modify this according to their class needs and maturity.
