Mountain View Christian Academy continues to monitor the events that surround the spread of COVID-19 or Coronavirus worldwide, in the U.S. and in Virginia. We have established guidelines based on the current evidence presented and the recommendations set forth by the VDH (Virginia Department of Health) and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control).

It is no secret that we as a school are facing some uncharted territory as we like all schools are trying to make wise decisions and plans in light of the pandemic that our country is now under with the  Coronovirus (COVID-19).

We continue to bathe our country, our leaders, the medical experts, and our school in prayer and are doing due diligence to stay informed so that we can make decisions based on fact, not fear and be prepared, not panicked.

You can access resources for you to review, and current announcements right here on this page.

Here is what the general population can do to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as other contagious diseases.
  1. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  2. Use an alcohol based hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol.
  3. Disinfect commonly touched areas with disinfecting wipes and/or sprays.
  4. Do not touch areas around your mouth, nose or eyes.
  5. Use a tissue to cover a cough or a sneeze, and throw the tissue away
  6. Avoid contact with others who are sick.
  7. If you or your child are sick, stay home.

Please know that the state has recommended lifting the recommendations on school attendance and the effect of absences on grades in order to prevent the spread of communicable diseases, so whereas, we want to instill strong work ethic in our students, we also want to keep our school a safe and healthy place. Please keep your child home if he or she is manifesting any of the following symptoms:
  1. Fever above 100 degrees
  2. Severe coughing
  3. Breathing problems
  4. Diarrhea (more than 1 abnormally loose stool within a 24 hour period)
  5. Vomiting
  6. Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
  7. Untreated infected skin patches
  8. Evidence of lice or scabies (must be treated at home and cleared by school personnel before returning to school)- We have a “no nits” policy.
  9. Unidentified skin rashes
  10. Any classified communicable disease
A child must be symptom-free for 24 hours or cleared by school personnel before returning to school.
