Curriculum and Course Offerings
Mountain View Christian Academy believes strongly in the integration of biblical truths with academic objectives. To accomplish this integration, Mountain View has developed a philosophy of biblical integration for each core subject. In addition, the school uses a variety of textbooks to meet our curricular needs. These textbooks are primarily published by Bob Jones University Press, ABeka, and ACSI (Purposeful Design). All of our curriculum guides and textbooks are available to view upon request. In addition,
Elementary School: Elementary students take core academic courses, including reading/language, spelling, math, science, social studies, and Bible. In addition, students participate in elementary resource classes.
Middle School: Middle school students take core academic courses, including english, math, science, history, health/P.E., Bible. Math classes are determined by students' readiness levels and include Fundamentals of Math, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra I (for which students can receive high school credit). In addition, students participate in elective classes.
High School: High school students take core academic courses, including english, math, science, history, health/P.E., and Bible. Math classes are determined by students' readiness levels and include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Advanced Math, and Pre-Calculus. Science classes include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Human Anatomy and Physiology. In addition, students participate in elective classes.
*Dual enrollment math and english classes with Laurel Ridge Community College are also available.

Elementary Resource Classes
Music - Students learn basic music skills, as well as develop their performance skills by preparing and performing in an annual Christmas program. Students may also take private music lessons in addition to the regular elementary music class, offered through a private instructor.
Art - Students are introduced to the basic elements of art - line, shape, color, and texture - while developing their creativity and appreciation for various types of art.
Computers - Students become familiar with the computer, improve their typing skills, learn about Internet safety, and use basic word processing skills.
Physical Education - Students improve their fine and gross motor skills through drills and games, all the while improving their physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Library - Students learn how to locate information and conduct research using library tools. In addition, students are exposed to a wide variety of books to help develop their appreciation for reading.
Spanish (Sixth Grade) - Sixth grade students are introduced to basic Spanish words and phrases as a precursor to middle school Spanish which begins in the seventh grade.
Secondary Electives
Secondary students have various electives available to them each year. These vary by year depending on student need and staff availability. Electives in the past have included classes such as Driver's Education, Art, Bible Bowl, Outdoor Skills, Drama, Beginning Violin, Robotics, Crime Scene Investigation, Cooperative Gaming, SAT Math Preparation, World Travelers, Women of the Bible, French, Photography, Animal Science, Bible Narratives, Missions, Speech, Counseling, and Yearbook.
